Job Description for Equipment Maintenance Manager
Role: Equipment Maintenance Manager for Whatcom Handyman Fence and Deck Company.

We’re looking for a team member with the heart of a lion, and the brains of MacGuyver to help keep our installation crews running smoothly.
WHO ARE YOU?
You are a genius with any tool. You know how to change the oil on anything. You can come up with a new system to store all the tools in your shop so that you ALWAYS know where they go.
Regular Maintenance on our small fleet of work vehicles.
You are our vehicle hero. You help keep our fence installers working efficiently by making their vehicles hum.
Example vehicles: Ford F550 oil change, DEF fluid top-off, brake check, trailer connection wiring upkeep.
You are a quick-learn around hydraulic equipment like a Kubota KX018 excavator. You can replace a hydraulic hose no problem.
You are a problem solver. You are a genius at finding solutions and sourcing parts online.
Example: You source a part at hardware sales, and replace a handle for a jack-hammer.
Example: You throw on fresh saw blades to keep the installers frictionless and fast.
Example: You discover a tool’s under warranty and send it out for repairs and pick it up when complete.
You organize tools around the shop for easier use by everyone.
You monthly run through our Bobcat Maintenance records and keep it running smooth.
You introduce yourself at parties as “My middle name is ‘Grease Zerk’”
Can create simple tracking docs, and develop a written maintenance record.
Driving and Mobilizing Equipment
You are comfortable driving a 1-ton pickup truck and pulling a 20-foot flatbed trailer.
You can get up early and deliver or pickup our heavy equipment such as bobcat mini-track loader to a site for our installers by 7:30-8:00 am.
Hauling Dump Trailer
You’re comfortable backing up a dump trailer and making weekly runs to RDS with a full payload.
You know how to keep other drivers safe with smart strapping and tarping of loose materials.
Occasionally:
Pick up materials locally with a truck or trailer in support of our installers.
Run a forklift to unload a truck with fencing materials
Hand-lift materials around the shop, or load onto truck/trailer as needed.
Build shelves for storing materials in Connex or around the shop.
Like Lean manufacturing and coming up with smarter & easier ways to work.
Licenses
Licenses: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to accurately perform preventive maintenance to fleet vehicles, have the ability to identify component failures and worn or damaged parts, diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle systems, and produce quality repairs.
Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges.
Unrestricted ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift (up to 50 lbs.), push, pull, climb, and lie on back in a horizontal position for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to hoist any size vehicle with lift device (vehicle jack) using foot and arm pumping motion.
Work is performed in three primary locations
a non-enclosed structure with overhead roof (all weather)
heated indoors
On-site at jobs (all weather)
The environment can involve chemical handling.
Full-time schedule consists of a minimum 40-hour work week.
Basic hand tools required.
Flexible Schedule. Full-Time
$23.50 - $28.75/ hour depending on experience.
